Here's my Jersey on Information Technology training in the state of NM.
WHAT'S YOUR PROBLEM?
It's 2015 and we still have not learned - Consider the following NM companies. Pay close attention now, because there will be a quiz question after the listing:
- Bernalillo County
- City of ABQ
- All other NM University campuses
- Sandia Labs
- Los Alamos Labs
- Department of Defense
- USDA Forest Service (Regional and National)
- Water Authority
OK, here is your quiz question:
What do each and every one of these companies and government agencies have in common?
Answer: They all use Oracle PeopleSoft, SCT Banner (100% Oracle application), and other Oracle technologies.
YOU WANT THE SOLUTION OR WHAT?
So, where in NM do you receive education and training in the implementation and use of these Oracle technologies? How about Phoenix, Denver, Dallas and San Francisco. But those cities aren't in NM, you correctly point out. You gotta problem with that?
You would think that there would be a nice Oracle training center here in NM, but nooooo!
Sending employees out-of-state for training more than triples the overall cost. We should create some kind of a state IT Training Position whose responsibilities would include coordinating the training needs of all these Oracle customers that use the same software and other IT technologies. It just takes a little political courage, that's all.
Now that's doing the state's business the smart way. How 'bout youse guys?
